Aërope (bahasa Yunani: Ἀερόπη), dalam mitologi Yunani, adalah anak perempuan Katreus, raja Kreta, dan cucu dari Minos.[1]
Dalam mitologi
Menurut ramalan, ayah Aerope akan dibunuh oleh salah seorang anaknya. Maka ayahnya memberikan anak-anaknya (Aerope dan Klimene) pada Nauplios, yang kemudian menjual mereka ke tanah yang jauh. Saudara Aerope yang lain, Apemone dan Aethemenes, telah terlebih dulu pergi dari Kreta ke Rhodes setelah mendengar ramalan itu. Aërope sendiri menikah dengan Atreus atau dengan Pleisthenes, putra Atreus, dan menjadi ibu dari Agamemnon dan Menelaos.[2][3][4] Setelah kematian Pleisthenes, Aërope menikahi Atreus. Namun, Aerope tidak setia dan beselingkuh dengan Thiestes.[5][6][7][8][9]
