Afonso de Albuquerque (juga dieja Afonso d'Albuquerque atau Alfonso de Albuquerque; Alhandra, Portugal, 1453 - Goa, 16 Desember 1515) adalah seorang pelaut Portugis terkenal yang berperan dalam pembentukan pemerintahan Kolonial Portugis di Asia.
Awal hidup
Lahir di Alhandra pada tahun 1453,[1] di dekat kota Lisbon, Portugal, dia pada suatu masa dikenal sebagai The Great, The Caesar of the East and as The Portuguese Mars. Ayahnya, Gonçalo de Albuquerque, Lord of Vila Verde dos Francos (yang menikah dengan Leonor de Menezes) memegang posisi yang cukup penting di pemerintahan. Dari ayahnya pula ia memiliki hubungan darah / keturunan dengan keluarga kerajaan Portugal. Dia mendapatkan pendidikan dalam bidang matematika dan Latin Klasik pada masa kekuasaan Afonso V dari Portugal, dan setelah wafatnya bangsawan itu, ia sepertinya bekerja di Arzila, Morocco untuk beberapa saat. Pada saat ia kembali ia ditunjuk se estribeiro-mor (kepala penasihat) untuk João II dari Portugal.
