Air terjun Caracol


Air Terjun Caracol atau Cascata do Caracol, adalah air terjun setinggi 426 kaki (130 meter) di Canela, Brasil bagian dari Taman Negara Bagian Caracol.[1] Itu dibentuk oleh Sungai Caracol dan memotong tebing basal di pegunungan Serra Geral, jatuh ke Vale da Lageana. Air terjun ini terletak di antara zona pinheiral (hutan pinus araucaria) di Dataran Tinggi Brasil dan Hutan Atlantik pesisir selatan.[2] Dasar air terjun dapat dicapai melalui jalan curam setinggi 927 anak tangga yang dikelola oleh Projeto Lobo-Guará.[1]

Air terjun terbentuk di atas batuan basal formasi Serra Geral dan memiliki dua air terjun. Air terjun bagian atas terletak kira-kira 100 m sebelum air terjun kedua, yang jatuh di atas tebing yang menjorok.[3]

Air Terjun Caracol telah lama menarik pengunjung dan merupakan objek wisata alam terpopuler kedua di Brasil, setelah Air Terjun Iguazu. Pada tahun 2009, ia menerima lebih dari 289.000 pengunjung.[4] Terdapat menara observasi setinggi 100 kaki di dekatnya yang menawarkan lift dan pemandangan panorama, serta kereta gantung yang memberikan wisatawan pemandangan air terjun dari udara.[1][5][6] Kawasan ini juga menyediakan restoran dan kios kerajinan.[6]
