Akiva Aryeh Weiss

Akiva Arieh Weiss, juga disebut Aryeh (1868-1947), adalah seorang aktivis Zionis, arsitek dan perancang kota di Palestina. Ia dikenal sebagai pendiri utama Tel Aviv. Ia menjadi inisiator proyek untuk mendirikan "kota Ibrani pertama" di Palestina dan memimpin sepanjang pendiriannya. Ia juga mendirikan industri intan Yahudi dan industri tekstil di Palestina.

Biografi

Weiss, seorang penjual perhiasan dan pembuat arloji, lahir dalam sebuah keluarga Yahudi di Grodno (kini Belarus) pada 1868, dan dibesarkan di Lodz, Polandia.[1] Bersama dengan istri dan enam anaknya, ia beimigrasi dari Polandia Rusia ke Palestina pada 1906.[2]
