Aksara Cherokee adalah aksara silabis yang diciptakan oleh Sequoyah pada akhir tahun 1810-an dan 1820-an untuk menulis bahasa Cherokee walaupun sebelumnya ia buta huruf. Ia awalnya mencoba membuat logogram, tetapi pada akhirnya ia memilih untuk membuat simbol untuk silabel. Terdapat 85 (awalnya 86) karakter dalam aksara Cherokee.[1] Beberapa mirip dengan huruf Latin, Yunani, dan Kiril, tetapi pengucapannya berbeda (misalnya, suara /a/ ditulis dengan huruf yang mirip dengan D).
