Albert Bierstadt (7 Januari 1830 – 18 Februari 1902) adalah seorang pelukis Jerman-Amerika yang terkenal karena pemandangannya yang mewah dan luas di Amerika Barat. Dia bergabung dengan beberapa perjalanan Ekspansi ke Barat untuk melukis pemandangan. Dia bukan seniman pertama yang merekam situs-situs tersebut, tetapi dia adalah pelukis terkemuka di sana selama sisa abad ke-19.

Bierstadt lahir di Prusia, tetapi keluarganya pindah ke Amerika Serikat ketika dia berusia satu tahun. Ia kembali belajar melukis selama beberapa tahun di Düsseldorf. Ia menjadi bagian dari generasi kedua Hudson River School di New York, kelompok informal pelukis yang berpikiran sama yang mulai melukis di sepanjang Hudson River. Gaya mereka didasarkan pada lukisan yang sangat detail dengan romantis, pencahayaan yang hampir bersinar, terkadang disebut luminisme.
