Alexander "Alex" Medawar Garland[2] (lahir 26 Mei 1970) adalah seorang novelis, penulis naskah, produser film dan sutradara Inggris, yang dikenal atas karyanya sebagai penulis naskah dari film-film 28 Days Later (2002), Sunshine (2007), Never Let Me Go (2011) dan Dredd (2012). Garland meraih ketenaran pada akhir 1990an dengan novel buatannya The Beach yang meraih sambutan universal dengan beberapa kritikus menyebut Garland sebagai pengisi suara utama dari Generation X.[3]

Pada 2015, Garland membuat debut penyutradaraannya dengan film Ex Machina, sebuah film cerita seru fiksi ilmiah yang mengeksplor hubungan antara umat manusia dan kecerdasan buatan.[4] Skenario Garland meraih sambutan meriah dan dinominasikan untuk Skenario Asli Terbaik (Oscar).
