Alfred Jeremias

Alfred Karl Gabriel Jeremias (24 Februari 1864 di Chemnitz, Kerajaan Saxony – 11 Januari 1935) adalah seorang pendeta Jerman, Asirologis dan seorang ahli dalam bidang agama-agama Timur Dekat Kuno.

Kehidupan

Pada tahun 1891 ia menerbitkan terjemahan Wiracarita Gilgames yang pertama dalam bahasa Jerman. Dari tahun 1890 hingga kematiannya, ia adalah seorang pendeta di jemaat sidang Lutheran di Leipzig, dan dari tahun 1922 ia juga menjadi profesor di Universitas Leipzig. Ia menerima gelar kehormatan pada tahun 1905 dari Leipzig dan pada 1914 dari Universitas Groningen.
