Amenemhat I, juga disebut Amenemhet I, adalah penguasa pertama dinasti kedua belas Mesir (dinasti yang dianggap sebagai awal periode Kerajaan Pertengahan Mesir). Ia berkuasa dari tahun 1991 SM hingga 1962 SM.[2] Amenemhat I adalah wazir pendahulunya, Mentuhotep IV. Ia menjatuhkan Mentuhotep dari kekuasaannya.[3]
Sebagai seorang firaun, Amenemhat I memindahkan ibu kota dari Thebes ke Itjtawy.
Pergantian tahta
Amenemhat I dianggap raja Mesir pertama yang mengatur pemerintahan bersama dengan putranya, Senusret I. Suatu stela bertarikh ganda berasal dari tahun ke-30 Amenemhat I dan tahun ke-10 Senusret I, yang membuktikan bahwa Senusret dijadikan raja bersama pada tahun ke-20 pemerintahan Amenemhat.[4] Setelah pembunuhannya, Amenemhat I resmi digantikan oleh Senusret I.
