Aminoreks (Menocil, Apiquel, aminoxaphen, aminoxafen, McN-742) adalah obat yang pernah dipakai untuk mengurangi berat badan dengan menekan nafsu makan. Namun, obat ini ditarik dari peredaran setelah terbukti menyebabkan hipertensi paru.[1] Di Amerika Serikat, obat ini tergolong sebagai obat-obatan ilegal dalam Daftar I, yang berarti bahwa obat ini sangat mungkin disalahgunakan, tidak memiliki kegunaan medis, dan tidak aman untuk digunakan.

Sejarah

Aminoreks pertama kali ditemukan pada tahun 1962 oleh Edward John Hurlburt,[2] dan pada tahun 1963 terbukti dapat memberikan efek anoreksia pada tikus. Obat ini pun kemudian digunakan untuk menekan nafsu makan di Jerman, Swiss, dan Austria, tetapi ditarik dari peredaran pada tahun 1972 setelah terbukti memicu hipertensi paru pada 0,2% pasien dan juga telah menyebabkan kematian.[3][4]
