Andrew Chi-Chih Yao

Andrew Chi-Chih Yao (Hanzi: 姚期智; Pinyin: Yáo Qīzhì) (lahir 24 Desember 1946) adalah seorang ilmuwan komputer ternama.

Dia menerima Turing Award, penghargaan yang paling berprestise di bidang ilmu komputer, pada tahun 2000, "atas kontribusi fundamental kepada teori komputasi, yang mencakup juga teori berbasis kompleksitas mengenai pembangkitan bilangan protoacak, kriptografi dan kompleksitas komunikasi".

Yao lahir di Shanghai, China. Dia menyelesaikan pendidikan sarjananya di bidang fisika di National Taiwan University, sebelum menyelesaikan program Ph.D. di bidang fisika di Universitas Harvard pada tahun 1972, dan kemudian mengambil PhD kedua di bidang ilmu komputer dari University of Illinois.

Kemudian ia menjadi profesor di bidang ilmu komputer di Universitas Princeton, dan di sana dia melanjutkan kerjanya di bidang algoritma dan kompleksitas. Pada tahun 2004, ia menjadi profesor pada Center for Advanced Study, di Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.
