Andrew Sarris (31 Oktober 1928 – 20 Juni 2012) adalah seorang kritikus film Amerika dan proponen utama dari teori auteur dari kritikan film.[1]
Kehidupan dan karier
Sarris lahir di Brooklyn, New York, dari orang tua imigran Yunani, Themis (née Katavolos) dan George Andrew Sarris, dan dibesarkan di Ozone Park, Queens.[2] Setelah masuk John Adams High School di South Ozone Park (di mana ia bertemu dengan Jimmy Breslin), ia lulus dari Columbia University pada 1951 dan kemudian bertugas selama tiga tahun dalam Army Signal Corps sebelum pindah ke Paris selama setahun, di mana ia berteman dengan Jean-Luc Godard dan François Truffaut.
