Anna Wierzbicka

Anna Wierzbicka adalah seorang profesor (emerita) linguistik di Universitas Nasional Australia.[1] Karyanya mencakup sejumlah bidang ilmu termasuk antropologi, psikologi, ilmu kognitif, filsafat dan studi agama serta linguistik.[1] Dalam bukunya Semantic Primitives yang diterbitkan pada 1972, ia menciptakan sebuah teori yang sekarang disebut Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM).[2] Anna Wierzbicka adalah peraih Dobrushin Prize pada tahun 2010 dan penghargaan Foundation for Polish Science pada tahun 2010 dalam ilmu sosial dan humaniora.[2]

Teori natural semantic metalanguage

Anna Wierzbicka bersama dengan Cliff Goddard mencanangkan teori natural semantic metalanguage (NSM) yang sekarang diakui secara internasional sebagai teori terkemuka mengenai bahasa dan makna.[2] Teori natural semantic metalanguage telah digunakan dalam kajian-kajian semantik pada beragam bahasa dan budaya.[3] Teori ini ditetapkan berdasarkan perpotongan antara bahasa-bahasa alami. Hipotesis dasar teori ini adalah terdapat hubungan antara metabahasa dengan "lingua mentalis" yang bersifat bawaan dan universal. Metabahasa ini dapat menjadi bahasa perantara secara konseptual untuk menjelaskan makna dan konsep lintas bahasa dan budaya.[1]
