Antonio Machado, yang bernama lengkap Antonio Cipriano José María y Francisco de Santa Ana Machado y Ruiz (26 Juli 1875 – 22 Februari 1939), adalah seorang penyair Spanyol dan salah satu figur utama gerakan kesusastraan Spanyol yang dikenal sebagai Generasi '98.
Kehidupan
Machado lahir di Sevilla, Spanyol setahun setelah kakaknya Manuel. Keluarganya pindah ke Madrid pada 1883 dan kedua kakak beradik tersebut dimasukkan ke Institución Libre de Enseñanza. Pada masa-masa itu, dan dengan dorongan para gurunya, Antonio meminati kesusastraan. Setelah menyelesaikan Bachillerato (gelar sarjana) di Madrid, kesulitan ekonomi memaksanya mengambil beberapa pekerjaan termasuk bekerja sebagai aktor. Pada 1899, ia dan kakaknya datang ke Paris untuk bekerja sebagai penerjemah untuk sebuah penerbitan Prancis. Selama masa-masa di paris, ia menjalin kontak dengan penyair-penyair Simbolis Prancis besar Jean Moréas, Paul Fort dan Paul Verlaine, dan juga dengan figur-figur kesusastraan kontemporer lainnya, termasuk Rubén Darío dan Oscar Wilde.
