Aos Sí
Aos sí ([eːs ˈʃiː], bentuk lama aes sídhe [eːs ˈʃiːðʲə]) adalah istilah yang mengacu kepada ras supranatural dalam mitologi Irlandia dan Skotlandia yang mirip dengan peri atau elf. Konon mereka tinggal di bawah tanah atau di dunia kasatmata yang ada bersamaan dengan dunia manusia. Dunia ini dijelaskan di dalam Lebor Gabála Érenn sebagai alam semesta paralel dan aos sí berkeliaran di antara makhluk hidup. Dalam bahasa Irlandia, aos sí berarti "orang-orang gundukan" (gundukan dalam bahasa Irlandia disebut "sídhe"). Dalam sastra Irlandia, orang-orang gundukan juga disebut daoine sídhe [ˈdiːnʲə ˈʃiːə]; sementara dalam mitologi Skotlandia mereka dinamai daoine sìth. Mereka telah dideskripsikan sebagai nenek moyang, roh di alam, peri, atau dewa-dewi.[1]
Beberapa sumber sekunder dan tersier (termasuk pengarang terkenal seperti W. B. Yeats) menyebut aos sí dengan nama sídhe" saja.[2] Menurut beberapa sumber, aos sí adalah dewa-dewi Tuatha Dé Danann yang selamat dari perang melawan kaum Milesia dan mereka melarikan diri ke dunia lain.
