Apidae adalah famili terbesar dalam superfamili Apoidea, yang berisi setidaknya 5.700 spesies lebah. Keluarga ini mencakup beberapa lebah yang paling sering terlihat, seperti tawon kumbang dan lebah madu, serta kelulut yang juga digunakan untuk produksi madu), lebah tukang kayu, dan sejumlah kelompok lain yang kurang dikenal.[1][2] Banyak Apidae merupakan penyerbuk tumbuhan yang penting, baik di habitat alami maupun untuk tanaman pertanian.[3]
