Agulhas Current system

Arus Agulhas (/əˈɡʌləs/) adalah arus hangat samudera dan arus batas barat yang berada di barat daya Samudra Hindia atau tenggara Benua Afrika. Arus ini membentang di sepanjang pantai timur dan mengalir ke selatan Benua Afrika, dari 27°LS hingga 40°LS. Arus Agulhas mengalir sesuai dengan kondisi topografi. Arus Agulhas bergerak mengikuti landas kontinen Afrika dari Maputo, Mozambik sampai ke ujung Tepian Agulhas (250 km selatan Tanjung Agulhas). Arus Agulhas merupakan kelanjutan dari Arus Madagaskar Timur, Arus Mozambik, dan bagian resirkulasi dari subpusaran (subgyre) Hindia barat daya di selatan Madagaskar.[1]

Arus ini mempunyai volume angkut bersih sekitar 70 sverdrup (70 juta m3/s), dan yang terbesar di antara arus batas barat lain pada garis lintang yang sama ― Arus Brasil (16,2 Sv), Arus Teluk (34 Sv), Kuroshio (42 Sv).[2] Arus ini mencapai volume angkut maksimumnya sekitar 95-136 Sv di dekat Tepian Agulhas.
