"As easy as pie" ("mudah seperti pai") adalah sebuah idiom kolokuial populer yang dipakai untuk menyebut sebuah tugas atau pengalaman yang menyenangkan dan sederhana.[1][2] Frasa tersebut sering kali diganti dengan "piece of cake" (potongan kue), yang memiliki arti yang sama.[2]
Cikal bakal
Terdapat beberapa klaim bahwa frasa tersebut bermula pada 1920an dari peribahasa penduduk asli Selandia Baru "pie at" atau "pie on" dari istilah Maori "pai" yang artinya "baik", namun istilah tersebut dipakai dalam Saturday Evening Post edisi 22 Februari 1913, dan pada 1910 oleh Zane Grey, pada 1886 dalam "The Young Forester," dan mungkin berkembang dari frasa "like eating pie," (seperti menyantap pai) yang mula-mula tercatat dalam "Sporting Life". Pada 1855, frasa tersebut muncul dalam sebuah variasi yang diterbitkan dalam buku berujung 'Which? Right or Left?' Karya tersebut memakai kalimat "nice as a pie" (baik seperti sebuah pai).[3]
