Asteroid tipe D

Asteroid tipe D adalah jenis asteroid dengan albedo yang sangat rendah. Asteroid jenis ini dapat ditemui di bagian luar sabuk asteroid. Contoh asteroid tipe D adalah 152 Atala, 944 Hidalgo, dan sebagian besar asteroid Troya Yupiter. Menurut model Nice, asteroid tipe D mungkin berasal dari sabuk Kuiper.[1]

Karakteristik

Komposisi kimia permukaan asteroid tipe D mungkin mirip dengan satelit Kalisto,[2] sehingga permukaannya terdiri dari materi-materi berkarbon.
