Asteroid tipe M

Asteroid tipe M (atau tipe metalik atau kelas M) adalah kelas spektral asteroid yang tampak mengandung konsentrasi fase-fase logam (seperti besi-nikel) yang lebih tinggi dari kelas asteroid lainnya,[1] dan umum dianggap sebagai sumber dari meteorit besi.[2][3]

Contoh asteorid dari tipe ini adalah 21 Lutetia, 16 Psyche (yang terbesar di antara tipe asteroid ini), 22 Kalliope dan 216 Kleopatra.
