Atta adalah sebuah genus semut Dunia Baru pada subfamili Myrmicinae. Genus ini mencakup setidaknya 17 spesies yang diketahui.
Semut pemotong daun Atta berukuran relatif besar, berwarna merah karat atau cokelat, dan memiloiki tubuh yang beruncing dengan kaki yang panjang. Terdapat tiga kasta utama dalam sarang Atta, yaitu ratu, pekerja dan tentara. Hanya jantan dan ratu yang memiliki sayap. Meski kebanyakan semut pada sarang Atta betina, hanya ratu yang dapat bertelur. Biasanya ratu memiliki panjang lebih dari 20 milimeter (25⁄32 in).[butuh rujukan]
