Avisaurus (berarti "kadal burung") adalah genus dari burung enantiornithes yang berasal dari Amerika Utara periode Kapur Akhir.[1] Genus ini memiliki panjang maksimum yaitu 73.9 mm, menjadikannya enantiornithes tarsometatarsi yang paling besar diketahui.[2]
Paleoiklim
Avisaurus diketahui cekungan sungai, danau dan rawa dataran rendah yang lembap pada pesisir barat Lajur Laut Interior Barat, Formasi Hell Creek dan dari dataran tinggi yang lebih kering yang terletak di antara Hell Creek dan Sabuk Overthrust Cordilleran, yang nantinya akan membentuk Pegunungan Rocky.
Hewan ini berburu pada wilayah terendam banjir pesisir, yang didominasi oleh pohon konifer dan semak berbunga. Tarsus Avisaurus yang kuat, dengan cakar yang melengkung kedalam, menyerupai dengan apa yang dapat dilihat di eudromaeosauria. Dengan cakar ini, mereka dapat menangkap dan menahan mangsa, kemungkinan memiliki keserupaan dengan burung pemangsa modern.[3]
