BMW M62 adalah mesin piston V8 DOHC yang menggantikan M60 dan diproduksi tahun 1994-2005. M62 dilengkapi Alusil cylinder liner[1] dan timing chain sebaris tunggal.[2] Pada tahun 1998, variable valve timing (VANOS) ditambahkan ke M62.
Desain
Blok mesin M62 terbuat dari Aluminium dengan Alusil atau Nikasil,[3][4] tergantung negara tujuan penjualan.
M62 juga dilengkapi injeksi bahan bakar sekuensial[5] dan fracture-split forged connecting rod.[6] Variable valve timing ditambahkan ke varian "M62TU".

S62 (atau S62B50) adalah versi performa-tinggi dari M62 yang disematkan pada E39 M5 dan E52 Z8. Kapasitas silindernya adalah 4.941 cc (302 cu in).[9]
