Balat (Istanbul)
Balat adalah sebuah perempatan Yahudi tradisional di distrik Fatih, Istanbul. Wilayah tersebut terletak di sisi Eropa dari Istanbul, di kota lama di semenanjung bersejarah, di tepi barat Tanduk Emas. (Wilayah Istanbul lainnya yang sangat dikaitkan dengan pemukiman Yahudi adalah Kuzguncuk di pesisir Asia.)
Nama Balat diyakini berasal dari kata Yunani palation (istana), dari kata Latin palatium, karena wilayah tersebut dekat dengan Istana Blachernae.
