Beltsazar

Beltsazar (bahasa Ibrani: בלטשאצר‎, bê·lə·ṭə·šaṣ·ṣar; bahasa Inggris: Belteshazzar) adalah nama bahasa Kasdim yang diberikan kepada Daniel oleh pemimpin pegawai istana raja Nebukadnezar, seperti yang dicatat dalam Kitab Daniel di Alkitab Ibrani dan Perjanjian Lama di Alkitab Kristen.[1]

Arti

Nama "Beltsazar" merupakan gabungan dari kata "Bel" yaitu dewa orang Kasdim dan "tsazar" atau "tesyazar" yang berarti "disukai", jadi nama itu diartikan "disukai oleh (dewa) Bel".[2] Dapat pula diartikan "pangeran (milik) Bel" atau "Bel melindungi raja"[3] atau "yang meletakkan harta di tempat tersembunyi".[4]
