Ben Gascoigne
Sidney Charles Bartholemew " Ben " Gascoigne AO (11 November 1915 – 25 Maret 2010) adalah seorang astronom optik Australia kelahiran Selandia Baru dan ahli fotometri yang memainkan peran utama dalam desain dan pengoperasian teleskop optik terbesar Australia, yaitu Anglo-Australian Telescope yang merupakan salah satu fasilitas astronomi terpenting di dunia waktu . Gascoigne lahir di Napier, Selandia Baru, ia belajar di Auckland kemudian melanjutkan pendidikan di Universitas Bristol sebelum pindah ke Australia selama Perang Dunia II untuk bekerja di Commonwealth Solar Observatory di Mount Stromlo di Canberra. Ia menjadi desainer yang terampil dalam pembuatan perangkat optik seperti elemen-elemen teleskop.
