Bozoum adalah ibu kota Ouham-Pendé, salah satu dari 20 prefektur di Afrika Tengah.

Sejarah

Pada tahun 1976, Bozoum menerima aliran listrik untuk pertama kalinya.[2]

Pada 13 Januari 2014, pasukan Séléka mundur dari Bozoum dan kota tersebut diambil alih oleh kelompok Anti-balaka. Warga Muslim yang tinggal di sana menjadi sasaran ancaman dari milisi.[3] Pada Maret 2017, Anti-balaka melucuti senjata pasukan penjaga perdamaian yang mencoba memasuki Bozoum.[4] Pada Maret 2019, dilaporkan bahwa Bozoum berada di bawah kendali pemerintah, dengan pasukan bersenjata dikerahkan untuk melindungi perusahaan-perusahaan Tiongkok yang beroperasi di daerah tersebut.[5]

Namun, pada 19 November 2020, pasukan pemerintah mundur dari Bozoum,[6] dan sebulan kemudian, pada 18 Desember, kota tersebut direbut oleh pemberontak dari Koalisi Patriot untuk Perubahan.[7] Bozoum berhasil direbut kembali oleh pasukan pemerintah pada 25 Februari 2021.[8]
