Buccaneer

Buccaneer adalah samun laut dan bajak laut yang beroperasi di Laut Karibia pada abad ke-17 dan ke-18. Mereka pertama kali muncul sekitar tahun 1625 di bagian barat laut Hispaniola setelah peristiwa Devastasi Osorio. Masa kejayaan mereka berlangsung sejak Restorasi pada 1660 hingga sekitar 1688, ketika pemerintahan di kawasan Karibia belum cukup kuat untuk menekan aktivitas mereka. Martinique menjadi pelabuhan utama bagi buccaneer Prancis serta bajak laut seperti Kapten Crapeau.[2]
