Cereus ingens adalah spesies tumbuhan yang berasal dari negara bagian Bahia dan Minas Gerais di Brasil. Tumbuhan ini umumnya disebut sebagai Mandacaru-da-mata.[1]
Deskripsi
Cereus ingens adalah salah satu yang terbesar dalam genus Cereus, tumbuh hingga mencapai lebih dari 15 meter. Cereus ingens sebanding dengan Cereus jamacaru, meskipun tanamannya lebih kokoh dan memiliki lebih sedikit rusuk. Tanaman muda berwarna biru keabu-abuan (glaukus), dan sering tumbuh spiral. Bunga dan buahnya juga jauh lebih besar dibandingkan spesies lain dalam genus ini.[2]
Penyebaran
Berbeda dengan spesies Cereus lainnya, buahnya jatuh ke tanah dan disebarkan oleh tikus, bukan oleh burung.[2]
Filogeni
Pada tahun 2023, sebuah studi menunjukkan bahwa Cereus ingens berkerabat dekat dengan Cereus fernambucensis.[3]

Etimologi
Epitet "ingens" merujuk pada perawakan besar spesies ini dibandingkan dengan anggota Cereus lainnya.[4]
