Claus Spreckels (9 Juli 1828 - 26 Desember 1908) sebagai pendiri Spreckles Sugar Company. Spreckles juga menjadi presiden San Francisco and San Juaquin Valley Railway dari 1895 hingga perusahaan dijual ke Santa Fe Railway pada tahun 1901.
Spreckles lahir di Lamstedt, Hanover, yang kini masuk dalam wilayah negara Jerman. Pada tahun 1846, ia bermigrasi ke Amerika Serikat dan menikah pada tahun 1852 dengan teman masa kecilnya, Anna Christina Mangels (1829-1910). Pasangan ini memiliki tiga belas anak dan lima di antaranya bertahan hidup hingga dewasa: John Diedrich (1853-1926), Adolph Bernard (1857-1924), Claus August (1858-1946), Rudolph (1872-1958) dan seorang putri, Emma C. Spreckels.
