Corynebacterium glutamicum (atau Micrococcus glutamicus) [1] adalah bakteri Gram-positif berupa bacillus yang digunakan keperluan industri untuk produksi asam amino.[2] Awalnya, bakteri ini diidentifikasi di belakang layar sebagai organisme yang mengeluarkan L-glutamate, mutan C. glutamicum juga telah diidentifikasi untuk menghasilkan berbagai asam amino lainnya.[3]

Oleh karena keperluannya untuk berbagai industri berskala besar, beberapa klon C. glutamicum telah diurutkan oleh beberapa kelompok industri dan akademik.[2] Selain itu, data RNA kecil telah diperoleh RNA-Seq di C. glutamicum ATCC 13032.[4]
