Dara-coklat adalah anggota genus Phapitreron dalam keluarga merpati. Nama umum mereka mengacu pada warna coklat keseluruhannya. Mereka endemik di Filipina. Semua dara-coklat adalah penghuni pohon, tetapi spesies yang berbeda menempati tipe habitat hutan yang berbeda; ada yang lebih terbatas pada hutan tua, ada pula yang memanfaatkan hutan sekunder dan hutan lainnya. Makanan utama mereka adalah buah-buahan. Mereka cenderung menyendiri dan sukar dipahami. Beberapa spesies dalam genus ini memiliki garis-garis hitam putih yang mencolok di wajah dan bulu leher berwarna-warni. Jantan dan betina terlihat sama.
