Geotrygon adalah genus burung dalam keluarga merpati dan dara (Columbidae). Anggotanya disebut dara-puyuh, dan semuanya hidup di daerah Neotropis. Spesies genus ini tersebar dari Meksiko bagian selatan dan Amerika Tengah hingga Hindia Barat dan Amerika Selatan. Dara-puyuh adalah burung yang hidup di darat yang hidup, bersarang, dan mencari makan di hutan lebat. Mereka terkenal karena warnanya yang ungu hingga coklat dengan corak wajah terang dan gelap.
Genus Geotrygon diperkenalkan pada tahun 1847 oleh naturalis Inggris Philip Henry Gosse.[1] Nama ini menggabungkan bahasa Yunani Kuno geo- yang berarti "tanah-" dan trygōn yang berarti "tekukur".[2] Jenis spesies ini kemudian ditetapkan sebagai dara-puyuh jambul (Geotrygon versicolor).[3]

Anggota genera Zentrygon dan Leptotrygon juga dikenal sebagai dara-puyuh, dan sebelumnya termasuk dalam Geotrygon. Spesies Starnoenas cyanocephala sebelumnya disebut sebagai dara-puyuh, meskipun nama ini tidak lagi digunakan.[5]
