Deipaturos

Deipaturos (bahasa Yunani Doria: Δειπάτυροϛ, translit. Deipáturos, har. 'bapa langit')[1][2] adalah dewa yang disembah di Tymfaia sebagai bapa langit (*Dyeus).[3][4]

Penjelasan

Deipáturos dicatat oleh ahli tata bahasa Yunani bernama Hesikhios (abad ke-5 hingga ke-6 SM), dalam sebuah entri leksikonnya bernama "Deipáturos, dewa di antara orang Stymfia" (Δειπάτυροϛ θεὸϛ παρὰ Στυμϕαίοιϛ).[2] Deipaturos disembah sebagai bapa langit (*Dyēus-Ph₂tḗr), kata yang berkerabat dengan Dyáuṣ Pitṛ́ dalam Weda, Zeus Patēr dalam Yunani Kuno, dan Yupiter dalam Romawi.[3][1] Menurut ahli bahasa bernama Émile Benveniste, daerah Tymfaia dihuni oleh penduduk Suku Iliria kuno yang mungkin telah memengaruhi bentuk Doria yang disalin oleh Hesikhios sebagai Δειπάτυροϛ ("Deipáturos").[2]

Menurut Martin L. West, "paralelisme formal antara nama-nama Deipaturos dalam bahasa Iliria dan Damatura (berarti "ibu pertiwi") dalam bahasa Messapia mungkin merupakan pasangan, tetapi bukti penghubungnya masih sangat kurang."[5]
