Dihidrostreptomisin merupakan turunan streptomisin yang memiliki sifat bakterisida.[1] Obat ini merupakan antibiotik aminoglikosida semisintetik yang digunakan dalam pengobatan tuberkulosis.[2]

Obat ini bekerja dengan mengikat protein S12 secara ireversibel pada subunit ribosom 30S bakteri, setelah secara aktif diangkut melintasi membran sel, yang mengganggu kompleks inisiasi antara mRNA dan ribosom bakteri. Hal ini menyebabkan sintesis protein yang rusak dan tidak berfungsi, yang mengakibatkan kematian sel bakteri.[1]
