Clingan terpilih sebagai pilihan ketujuh secara keseluruhan oleh Portland Trail Blazers dalam Draf NBA 2024.[1] Setelah nomor punggung 32 yang dipakainya di perguruan tinggi dipensiunkan oleh Trail Blazers untuk Bill Walton, Clingan memilih nomor 23 sebagai nomor jerseynya.[2] Pada tanggal 4 Juli, ia menandatangani kontrak dengan Portland.[3]
