Día del Mar

Perayaan tahun 2007 di El Alto, Bolivia

Día del Mar adalah sebuah perayaan tahunan di Bolivia yang mengenang perebutan Departemen Litoral oleh Chili dalam Perang Pasifik 1879–1883. Perayaan tersebut diadakan pada 23 Maret, bertepatan dengan pekan Semana del Mar dengan perayaan di Plaza Abaroa, La Paz, kampung halaman dari pahlawan perang Eduardo Abaroa, dan perayaan-perayaan terkait di seluruh negeri. Bolivia menganggap Día del Mar sebagai kesempatan untuk merebut kembali klaimnya atas akses ke Samudera Pasifik yang direbut saat negara tersebut menjadi negara pedalaman usai perang tersebut. Peringatan dari peristiwa tahun 1963 tersebut ditandai dengan lafalan dan lagu yang menentang Chili oleh kelompok tenaga kerja dan pelajar.[1]
