Elizabeth Amherst Hale


Elizabeth Frances Amherst (1774-1826)

Elizabeth Frances Amherst Hale (1774 – 18 Juni 1826) merupakan seorang seniman Kanada yang tinggal di Kanada Hilir (kemudian Quebec). Ia adalah putri William Amherst dan Elizabeth Patterson, ia lahir sebagai Elizabeth Frances Amherst di Inggris dan dibesarkan disana. Hale pindah ke Kanada tahun 1799 dengan suaminya, John Hale, seorang pejabat di Angkatan Darat Britania Raya, yang ditempatkan di Kota Quebec. Ia dikenal akan lukisan-lukisan lanskapnya, terutama lukisan cat air kota baru York (sekarang Toronto) tahun 1804.[1] Selama Perang tahun 1812 ia membawa anak-anaknya ke Inggris untuk menghindari konflik, dan kembali setelah kemenangan Britania.[2] Setelah suaminya membeli seigneur Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade, ia memenuhi buku sketsanya dengan gambar bangunan di properti dan wilayah sekitarnya.[3]
