Emeishan Traps

Kawasan yang banyak mengandung batu basalt vulkanik atau disebut pula sebagai daerah berbatuan beku yang luas.

Perangkap Emeishan (bahasa Inggris: The Emeishan Traps) adalah kawasan yang membentuk daerah yang banyak mengandung batu basalt vulkanik atau disebut pula sebagai "daerah berbatuan beku yang luas"[1] dan berada di barat daya Tiongkok yang berpusat di provinsi Sichuan.

Daerah ini kadang-kadang disebut juga sebagai Daerah Berbatuan Beku Permian Emeishan (Inggris: Permian Emeishan Large Igneous Province) atau variasi dari istilah tersebut. Dinamakan sebagai Emeishan, berasal dari nama sebuah gunung di provinsi Sichuan.

Seperti kawasan atau daerah vulkanik, Emeishan Traps terdiri dari beberapa lapisan batuan beku yang terbentuk oleh letusan gunung berapi yang sangat besar, sehingga batuan dan abu vulkaniknya terdorong sampai ke lapisan (mantle) atmosfer terluar Bumi. Letusan yang menghasilkan Emeishan Traps dimulai sekitar 265 juta tahun yang lalu.[2]
