Fitokorion

Dalam fitogeografi, fitokorion adalah sebuah kawasan geografis dengan komposisi spesies tumbuhan yang relatif seragam. Fitokoria (jamak dari fitokorion) bersebelahan umumnya tidak memiliki perbatasan yang kontras, tetapi membaur secara perlahan. Wilayah transisional tempat banyak spesies dari kedua kawasan bertumpang tindih dikenal sebagai ekoton.

Dalam skema tradisional, wilayah-wilayah dalam fitogeografi diklasifikasikan dalam sebuah hierarki bedasarkan kehadiran famili, genera atau spesies endemik, dalam region dan kawasan floral (atau floristik, fitogeografis),[1] atau dalam kerajaan, region, atau provinsi,[2] yang terkadang mencakup kategori imperium dan domain. Namun, beberapa ahli lebih memilih untuk memeringkatkan wilayah, hanya menuruk semuanya sebagai "area", "region" (dalam konteks non-hierarki), atau "fitokoria".[3]
