Francoys Dancx

Francoys Dancx/Danks/Danck/Dancks/Dank (Amsterdam, 1636 - Amsterdam, 1703), adalah pelukis Masa Keemasan Belanda.

Biografi

Menurut Arnold Houbraken, Dancx berkelana ke Roma dan bergabung dengan Bentvueghels dengan nama julukan Schildpad (Kura-kura).[1] Ia melukis penyair Catharina Questiers dari Amsterdam dan memahat relief jam pasir yang bermotto Myn Glas loopt Ras (Gelasku Cepat Mengering) yang dipasang di sebuah rumah yang berada di Herengracht di Amsterdam, dan kedua karya seni itu dijadikan subjek puisinya sendiri oleh penyair Cornelis van Ryssen dan Jan Koenerding.[1]

Menurut RKD-Nederlands Instituut voor Kunstgeschiedenis, ia menuju Nusantara pada tahun 1676.[2] Di sana, ia melukis pemandangan yang kemudian diterbitkan dalam buku Zee- en lantreize door verscheidene gewesten von Oost Indien karangan Joan Nieuhof.[2]
