Gerbil mauritania (Gerbillus mauritaniae) tersebar terutama di Mauritania utara. Beberapa ahli menempatkannya dalam genusnya sendiri yang terpisah, Monodia. Gerbil ini juga terkadang dianggap sebagai subspesies dari gerbil sudan.
