Gonaïves (Kreol Haiti: Gonayiv) adalah sebuah komune yang terletak di Haiti utara dan merupakan ibu kota Departemen Artibonite. Komune ini memiliki jumlah penduduk sebesar 300.000 jiwa menurut sensus tahun 2011.[butuh rujukan]
Sejarah
Gonaïves didirikan pada kisaran tahun 1422 oleh suku Taíno yang menyebutnya dengan nama Gonaibo. Gonaïves dikenal sebagai "kota kemerdekaan" di Haiti karena merupakan tempat Jean-Jacques Dessalines menyatakan kemerdekaan Haiti dari Prancis pada 1 Januari 1804.[butuh rujukan]
