Dara laut putih terdiri dari tiga spesies dara laut dalam genus Gygis dan famili Laridae.[1] Genus tersebut terdiri dari tiga spesies dara laut putih - dara laut putih Atlantik (Gygis alba), dara laut putih berparuh biru (Gygis candida) dan dara laut putih kecil (Gygis microrhyncha).[2][3]
