Haplotaxida adalah salah satu ordo dalam subkelas Oligochaeta.[1] Oligochaeta tradisional adalah kumpulan parafili. Dengan demikian, Haplotaxida pada akhirnya dapat dinaikkan statusnya menjadi subkelas di dalam Clitellata atau Oligochaeta yang diperluas, dengan subordo yang sekarang naik ke peringkat ordo. Dari keempat subordonya, dua diantaranya merupakan silsilah minor dan monotipe pada tingkat keluarga. Subordo Tubificina cukup besar dan berisi cacing air, sedangkan ordo lumbricina (cacing tanah) menyatukan sebagian besar keluarga ordo.
