Helicia rufescens adalah spesies pohon dalam keluarga Proteaceae, yang berasal dari Asia Tenggara. Epitet spesifik rufescens berarti 'menjadi kemerahan', merujuk pada indumentum pada perbungaan, ranting, dan daunnya.[2]

Deskripsi

Helicia rufescens tumbuh hingga setinggi 25 meter (80 ft), dengan diameter batang mencapai 35 cm (14 in). Kulit kayunya halus berwarna abu-abu dengan lentisel. Rantingnya berwarna abu-abu hingga cokelat. Daunnya yang liat berbentuk elips dan berukuran panjang hingga 15 cm (6 in). Buahnya yang berbentuk elipsoid akan mengering menjadi hitam.[2]

Distribusi dan habitat

Helicia rufescens berasal dari Borneo, Semenanjung Malaysia, dan Sumatra. Di Borneo, habitatnya adalah hutan dipterocarp campuran dataran rendah dan hutan kerangas. Di Semenanjung Malaysia, tumbuhan ini ditemukan dari permukaan laut hingga ketinggian 1.500 m (5.000 ft).[2]
