Hipoplasia
Hipoplasia (dari Anciento- hypo- Yunani Kuno, "di bawah" + πλάσις plasis, "pembentukan"; bentuk kata sifat dari hipoplastik) adalah istilah untuk perkembangan jaringan atau organ yang tidak lengkap atau kurang.[1] Meskipun jarang, istilah ini juga merujuk pada jumlah sel yang tidak memadai atau di bawah normal.[2] Hipoplasia mirip dengan aplasia, tetapi tidak terlalu parah. Secara teknis, hal ini bukan kebalikan dari hiperplasia (terlalu banyak sel). Hipoplasia adalah kondisi bawaan, sedangkan hiperplasia umumnya merujuk pada pertumbuhan sel yang berlebihan saat hidup.
Hipoplasia dapat terjadi pada berbagai jaringan atau organ apa pun, termasuk:
