Plataks adalah ikan dari genus Indo-Pasifik, ikan yang berasosiasi dengan terumbu yang termasuk dalam famili Ephippidae . Saat ini ada lima spesies yang masih ada yang diketahui secara umum diterima sebagai bagian dari genus.[1] Di Indonesia, platax umum dikenal sebagai buna atau gebel.
Keterangan
Anggota genus ikan buna umumnya memiliki bentuk yang mirip dengan spesies lain dalam famili tersebut. Ikan dewasa adalah ikan yang agak berbentuk cakram, dengan tubuh yang dikompresi secara lateral dan sirip punggung dan dubur yang besar yang memberikan individu profil yang agak segitiga. Platax teira adalah spesies terbesar, mencapai panjang sekitar 70 sentimeter (28 in) .[2] Spesies lain mencapai panjang maksimum sekitar 40–65 cm (16–26 in) .
