Jacques Tits (12 Agustus 1930 – 5 Desember 2021) adalah seorang matematikawan Prancis kelahiran Belgia yang terkenal atas hasil kerjanya dalam bidang teori grup dan geometri. Ia juga telah memperkenalkan Grup Tits, Alternatif Tits dan Bangun Tits. Pada tahun 2008, ia bersama rekannya John G. Thompson mendapat Penghargaan Abel atas hasil kerja mereka.

Penghargaan

Ia mendapat Penghargaan Wolf dalam bidang matematika pada tahun 1993, Medali Cantor dari perhimpunan matematika Jerman tahun 1996 serta tanda kehormatan "Pour le Mérite". Tahun 2008 ia mendapat Penghargaan Abel bersama rekannya John G. Thompson atas prestasi mereka yang mendalam dalam bidang aljabar dan khususnya untuk membentuk teori grup modern.[1]
