Jean Meeus

Jean Meeus adalah seorang meteorolog dan astronom berkebangsaan Belgia. Ia dilahirkan pada tahun 1928. Jean Meeus memiliki ketertarikan khusus pada bidang matematika astronomi dan astronomi sferis. Pendidikannya ia tempuh pada bidang studi matematika di University of Louvain (Leuven) Belgia dan mendapatkan gelar lisensi pada tahun 1953. Semenjak tahun 1993 ia menjadi seorang ahli meteorolgi di Bandara Brussel. Selain itu dia bergabung dalam beberapa asosiasi astronom dan menjadi penulis beberapa karya ilmiah. Di antara hasil karya ilmiah yang dihasilkan berjudul "Transits" (1989), "Astronomical Algorithms" (1991 dan 1999), "Astronomical Tables of the Sun, Moon and Planets" (1983 and 1995), "Mathematical Astronomy Morsels" (1997), "Mathematical Astronomy Morsels" (2002), "Mathematical Astronomy Morsels III" (2004).[1][2][3]

Akhir dunia

Meeus telah membuat perkiraan atas ramalan bangsa Maya mengenai akhir dari siklus dunia melalui disposisi astronomi. Ia menetapkan akhir dunia dapat terjadi pada rentang tahun 1980 hingga tahun 2016.[4]
